What is the use of Community Based Monitoring?
• CBM is a form of a social accountability process which involves drawing in, activating and motivating community or Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), capacity building and allowing the community and its representatives to directly give feedback about functioning of public health services. • CBM as an approach and method involves keeping an ongoing watch over the health system, seeking information on regular basis as part of monitoring to check whether specific entitlements are provided and objectives met, involve community in planning also to reform and improve health services and engage in monitoring at multiple levels. • CBM as a tool being used to generate the appropriate information for high quality service delivery but also aims to strengthen local decision-making, public education, community capacity and effective public participation in local government. • Also facilitate more inclusive decision-making on issues deemed important to members of a community that incorporate increasingly complex aspects of social, economic and environmental factors |
